Kamchatka moose, genetically identical to Chukotka moose (Alces alces buturlini), is one of the largest moose subspecies in the world. The Kamchatka peninsula moose population is close to 6000 and growing. Hunt is conducted by bugling, spotting, and stalking. Later in the season, with the foliage down, spotting moose above the brush becomes easier. Rains are common, sometimes keeping hunters inside of cabins for a few days.
